The eagerly anticipated January jobs report, which experienced a delay due to a brief government shutdown, is now set to be unveiled on February 11, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS). This release comes five days later than originally planned, as indicated in their updated schedule.
In addition to this report, the BLS will also announce the Job Openings and Labor Turnover Survey on Thursday, having rescheduled it from its initial Tuesday slot.
Moreover, there are additional delays affecting other economic metrics. For instance, the consumer price index for January will now be made public on February 13, which is two days later than first intended. This delay will also apply to the accompanying report that calculates real earnings.
Economists who were surveyed by Dow Jones are predicting that the nonfarm payrolls report will reveal an increase of 60,000 jobs for January, building on December's reported growth of 50,000 jobs. Additionally, they expect the unemployment rate to remain unchanged at 4.4%.
Just earlier on Wednesday, payroll processing company ADP disclosed that businesses added a modest 22,000 jobs in January, highlighting a potential discrepancy in job growth expectations.
